乃至 (nǎizhì)

乃至 is a formal conjunction used to extend a range or progression to include a further, often extreme or unexpected, element. Usage Notes

乃至 is primarily a written, formal conjunction. It typically appears in lists where the items escalate in scope, magnitude, or significance: from smaller to larger, from local to global, from minor to extreme. Unlike 甚至 (shènzhì, even/to the point of), which often introduces something surprising or extreme in a more emphatic way, 乃至 is more neutral and sequential, simply marking the extension of range.

Both 乃至 and 甚至 can be used to introduce extreme examples, but 甚至 is slightly more colloquial and emphatic, while 乃至 is more formal and systematic.
