Usage Notes
提到 is more casual and passing than 提出 (to propose/raise). While 提出 introduces something new for consideration, 提到 simply refers to something briefly. It does not require elaboration. It is extremely common in both spoken and written Chinese and is an essential B1-level verb.
Memory Hook
提 means "to lift" and 到 means "to reach/arrive at." So 提到 is to lift a topic up just enough to touch on it: briefly reaching up to mention something without fully developing it.
