Usage Notes
邀请 is the formal and standard way to say "to invite." In casual speech, 叫 (jiào) can also be used, but 邀请 is appropriate in both spoken and written Chinese. The formal written form for an invitation card is 邀请函 or 请帖 (qǐngtiě). 受邀 is a common abbreviated form meaning "to be invited."
