研讨 combines 研究 (yánjiū, to research) with 讨论 (tǎolùn, to discuss), and its most common nominal form is 研讨会 (seminar/symposium), which is one of the most frequently encountered terms in academic and professional life in China. The verb form 研讨 is slightly less common than the noun 研讨会 but appears regularly in formal writing.
