视角 (shìjiǎo)
视角 literally means "viewing angle" and is used both literally (the angle of a camera lens) and figuratively (a perspective or standpoint). In literary and critical contexts it translates as "point of view" or "narrative perspective." It is more visual and spatial in connotation than 观点 (guāndiǎn), which focuses on opinion, or 立场 (lìchǎng), which emphasizes position or stance.

Usage Notes
视角 is versatile, appearing in literary criticism (叙事视角), journalism (报道视角), philosophy, and even photography (广角视角). It differs from 观点 in that 观点 means "viewpoint" or "opinion" (what you think), while 视角 emphasizes the angle or standpoint from which you look (how you see). The phrase 换个视角 (huàn gè shìjiǎo) — "change your perspective" — is common in motivational and analytical contexts.
In academic writing, 视角 often appears in the pattern 从X视角来看/分析/研究, meaning "from the perspective of X." This is a very productive structure for thesis statements and analytical paragraphs.
Memory Hook
视 means to see or look; 角 means angle or corner — 视角 is the "angle from which you see," i.e., perspective.
