赞同 (zàntóng)

赞同 expresses active agreement with or approval of someone's opinion, proposal, or plan, and is widely used in formal discussion, debate, and written argument at B2 level.

Usage Notes

赞同 is more formal than 同意 (tóngyì) and is preferred in written and official contexts. While 同意 can mean simply "okay, agreed", 赞同 implies a more considered, positive endorsement. It is distinct from 批准 (pīzhǔn, to officially approve/authorise), which is used only by an authority granting permission.

At B2, practise using 赞同 in argumentative writing to acknowledge others' points: 我赞同...这一观点 (I agree with...this viewpoint).
